With this presentation we begin a series of instruction materials for those involved in Sacred Music and wish to deepen their understanding and practice of sacred music.
The aim is not to give elementary instruction in detail, this is already available in thousands of books and resources from Internet. Particular instructive details will however be given and expanded whenever necessary. The practising musician is encouraged to expand his knowledge and experience by watching and listening to the videos.
In the Bach pieces we consider some aspects of composition and how these can be linked to creating original instrumental pieces using our local hymns; and applying Bach’s techniques to Keyboard improvisation. It pays to understand some of the “tricks” used by Bach and then be able to apply these in one’s own musical Praxis. In the process, one sharpens one’s musical skills, be they theoretical, Performance skills (Instrumental or Vocal), or even as director of a Choir or music Ensemble.
